Research and Innovation Interests
Dr. Burcu Demiray is a lifespan developmental psychologist. Her expertise is on adult development and healthy aging. She conducts participatory research uses qualitative and quantitative research methods, works with real world evidence (e.g., smartphone sensing, citizen science) and uses interdisciplinary approaches in data analytics to understand and promote healthy human development and longevity.
Her specific research, teaching and innovation areas:
- Memory functions across the adult life span (e.g., reminiscence)
- Lifelong learning, adult education
- Aging workforce, career transition in midlife, senior entrepreneurship
- Ageism, age discrimination
- Age-tech, age-friendly ICTs, digital literacy and competences in late life
- Behavior and context detection in real-life audio and speech data
