UZH Healthy Longevity Center (HLC)

Events

The Network was launched in July 2018 through a two-day meeting that was preceded by interviews between the Secretariat and interested WHO Collaborating Centers and other institutions to become members of the network. The aim of the workshop was to develop a clear work plan for the new WHO-CC+ Network on Healthy Ageing.

Members of the Network Secretariat participated in a workshop on motivation and healthy aging, co-organized by members of the University of Zurich, the Velux Foundation, and WHO, on December 16-17, 2019. The two-day workshop was held with a group of invited international and interdisciplinary scholars who are experts in motivation and aging and related fields. As a result of this workshop, a special issue will be published in the Journals of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences in 2021.

Members of the network regularly take part in consultations and meetings of the relevant WHO departments.

The URPP Dynamics of Healthy Ageing and the Healthy Longevity Center are also coordinating a cross-national and comparative study on the everyday and context-based measurement of functional ability in older adults. Data collection is currently underway in Switzerland, Luxembourg and Hong Kong. A data collection in Mexico is being planned.
