New HLC Global Faculty of Excellence - Prof. Dr. Jo-An Occhipinti

Jo-An

We are excited to welcome Prof. Dr. Jo-An Occhipinti from the University of Sydney, Australia, as a new member of the UZH HLC’s Global Faculty of Excellence! Prof. Occhipinti is an epidemiologist and systems scientist at the Sydney School of Public Health, a Co-Director of the University of Sydney’s Mental Wealth Initiative, and an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow.

Her research interests include how economic policy shapes the social conditions that impact brain health across the lifecourse, generating evidence to guide public and private investment decisions that influence population wellbeing, social cohesion, and long-term economic resilience. Together with her colleagues at the Mental Wealth Initiative, she has pioneered the macroeconomic methodology for estimating social production, which is one of the three pillars of the Swiss Value Creation Monitor 65+ that we are currently developing with her at the HLC.

We look forward to further benefiting from her expertise, pursuing our collaboration, and rethinking healthy longevity together!
