New partnership in the fight against ageism

We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Age Foundation to raise awareness of and combat age discrimination and ageism!

Under the UZH Healthy Longevity Center (HLC), the long-standing work of the UZH Center for Gerontology toward a nuanced view of aging will continue. The current partnership between the Age Foundation and the HLC builds on the Switzerland-wide initiative Let's end ageism together, which combines research, awareness-raising, and participatory approaches on the topic of ageism.

In the first project phase of the Let's end ageism together initiative (led by HLC Group Leader Dr. Burcu Demiray), a digital platform was developed and a sounding board of people aged 60 and older was established to provide guidance and help shape the foundational concepts.

The focus of the new partnership is on the second project phase: raising awareness of ageism among the general public and training professionals in the healthcare sector as well as in senior living and long-term care facilities.

Implementation will be carried out through a combined digital and analog strategy. With a focus on German-speaking Switzerland, the partnership encompasses the development, piloting, and dissemination of impact-oriented awareness-raising formats.
